Priorities
My priorities for Council Action
- Preserve and maintain Amherst’s unique character while restoring vitality to our downtown.
- Ensure that the design of new downtown buildings is contextually appropriate, with proper greenspace, set-backs, and scaling to promote a vibrant, welcoming street life.
- Expand affordable rental housing and attainable homeownership throughout Amherst.
- Assure diversity and inclusion on all Town governing bodies – boards, commissions, advisory committees and the Council itself.
- Build green – incorporate sustainability into all new construction and support green building retrofit for existing structures
- Prioritize sustainability in all procurement, budgeting and other local government decision-making.
- Deliver transparent, accountable and inclusive government that respects and incorporates residents’ concerns and participation.
Below are letters I’ve written to Town Councilors and Planning Board members over the course of this year.
They underscore my positions on the issues about which I am most passionate.
